On Friday, February 7th, 2024, we enjoyed presentations by two DOLCE speakers.
Psychology Professor Lisa Oakes spoke on “Using video and PlayPosit in Hybrid and Virtual Courses.”
In
her talk, Professor Oakes shared insights on teaching with video.
She writes: “In this presentation, I will talk about teaching with video
and the lessons I have learned about how to create engaging video
content and how to use PlayPosit to both encourage students to watch the
videos and to engage them in active learning as they watch. I will
share my experience using video and PlayPosit in both my hybrid and
virtual courses, and even how I have occasionally used them in fully
in-person courses to supplement other materials.”
Representing the Department of Communication, Professor Jorge Peña spoke on “Enhancing student engagement in online courses through interactive PlayPosit modules.”
Professor
Peña discussed his experience utilizing PlayPosit to enhance student
engagement in online courses. He shared insights on integrating
interactive course content and self-assessment modules to improve
retention. Thanks to Jorge Peña for sharing with us his presentation lecture notes.
This special DOLCE on teaching with video was immediately followed by a bonus webinar by Stephanie Gates from PlayPosit. Gates showed attendees how PlayPosit allows
educators to create interactive video lessons by embedding questions,
discussions, and assessments into pre-recorded videos. Watch the
recording of that bonus PlayPosit webinar.
