The UC Davis Office of Planned Giving invites business owners, entrepreneurs and investors to an engaging webinar focused on making the most of your charitable impact. Join Timothy J. Watson, J.D. '01, and
Karina "Cookie" Desai, J.D. '24, for a practical conversation about
smart charitable and estate planning strategies.
[Video Description: The
video begins with an introduction of the webinar and their role, Brian Casey,
assistant vice chancellor of Planned Giving. Casey is featured singularly on
screen with a blue and green Zoom background image showing his name and title.
Viewers are then introduced to the both speakers Timothy Watson and Cookie
Desai, shown with similar Zoom backgrounds, and a brief professional
background by Casey.
Desai quickly takes the lead and presents a slide show. Opening with a title
slide, Desai walks the audience through three different case studies, and
covers the types of vehicles for gifting for each scenario and pitfalls of
each. Each scenario has an accompanying slide with text that Desai audibly
details for the audience. Watson contributes to each case study by providing
extra details such as business interests prior to sale, a tax analysis chart of
pre-and-post sale and what that means for the study. In case study two,
conservation easements and charitable remainder trusts are also discussed
with accompanying text slides. In case study three, a tax analysis chart of
appreciated stock gifts are shown, along with post-transaction charitable
planning points and critical issues to consider. Both Desai and Watson sum up
the webinar with five points to guiding 'your exit action plan'. The opening
title slide is shown again as a closing to the slide show presentation.
Casey then moves the conversation into a Q&A segment by presenting
questions submitted from the audience to the speakers. Watson and Desai take
turns answering each question, with no additional graphics, text or scene
changes.
To wrap up the conversation, Casey introduces a live webinar poll, which is not
visible on the recording, for audience members to take. Both Watson and Desai
turn off their cameras and Casey is solo, presenting contact information on the
screen for both speakers and thanks them for their time. To end the webinar,
Casey offers help and assistance and describes how to contact him and the
office, accompanied by another contact information slide. Finally, the webinar
ends with Casey thanking the audience and wishing them a great rest of their
day.]
