How can we develop a coherent approach to Generative AI in our course, whether we encourage its use, limit it to certain use cases, or choose not to use it? This session introduces a multi-level, multidimensional framework for thinking about AI and demonstrates how it can be used to align course design questions, learning outcomes, and assignments with an instructor’s goals and values. Viewers/participants will have opportunities to consider where their own approaches fall along a continuum, from AI use to metacognition, critical thinking, and ethics, and explore how greater alignment in course materials can help students understand this new technology and make informed decisions about when and when not to engage with AI.
