This interview is with John Walton, Professor Emeritus of Sociology. He was appointed in 1978, and retired in 2004.
John’s research interests include international development and urban politics in Latin America. He also has an interest in social history and has studied the battles surrounding water rights in California’s Owens Valley that led to the construction of the Los Angeles aqueduct. He has received numerous awards including Robert E Park and Helen Lynd Career Achievement Award from the American Sociological Association.
