On November 2nd DOLCE speakers discussed open
textbooks, UC Davis Canvas, and iClickers.
Delmar Larsen,
Associate Professor of Chemistry and ChemWiki pioneer, shared updates
on his work on LibreTexts. This project provides free and personalizable
textbooks to empower students and faculty alike. LibreTexts is an
exciting project that started in the Chemistry Department at UC Davis
and has since expanded. For more information on the project and its work
to create textbooks for the future, check out LibreText’s website.
Todd Van Zandt, Learning Management
System Program Manager, discussed updates in Canvas to student and
instructor mobile apps, student view, media recorders, analytics, and
the Gradebook. In addition, although the site movetocanvas.ucdavis.edu
will continue to be updated, a new website will house important
information regarding Canvas at UC Davis.
Dr. Fernando Socorro, instructional
technologist for Academic Technology Services, and Justin Navarro,
iClicker representative, concluded DOLCE with a discussion of iClickers.
Justin Navarro shared Learning Science & Insights where faculty can delve deeper into the research behind iClickers.
