February 3rd DOLCE
(Discussing Online Learning and Collaborative Education) meeting in 1310
Surge III / The Grove, at which time we will hear from two experts on
instructional technology tools and practices.
Melinda M. Livas, MS, MLIS, MA, is a Physical Sciences &
Engineering Librarian, as well as an instructional technologist with a
passion for online teaching and learning. She introduce a number of
instructional technology applications, and led a discussion about
the new ways we can start to imagine engaging with our students. We will
also discuss the extent to which our learning management system Canvas
can replicate the functions of some of these tools. If there is
significant faculty interest, we can also investigate the extent to
which Canvas can work with the following tools in the future. They
include the following:
Padlet– One of the most collaborative, online bulletin boards available. Extremely intuitive, and easy to use.
Screencastify- Quickly create screencasts using a chrome extension.
ScreencastOmatic- design clear screen recordings on the fly.
Tildee– Create mini tutorials on the fly, and easily share with peers.
Haiku-Deck- Create presentations with 40 million free images at your fingertips.
Prezi- a uniquely different platform for presenting, and sharing content.
