The Summer Talks: Careers in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine series is presented by the faculty in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UC Davis Health during summer 2020. The presenters talk about career paths in pathology and laboratory medicine, exciting research (from neurodegenerative diseases to cancer, molecular imaging, artificial intelligence in pathology, and more), clinical laboratory medicine, and describe a typical day in their professional life. These talks are aimed at undergraduate students and others interested in health sciences and medicine. The June 25, 2020 speaker is Dr. Richard Levenson, M.D., Professor and Vice Chair for Strategic Technologies in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and co-founder of MUSE Microscopy, Inc.
Dr. Levenson's clinical interests include: informatics, anatomic pathology, microscopy, imaging, autopsy, personalized medicine, and computer-assisted diagnosis. His research activities include development of mass-tag-based multiplexed ion-beam imaging for up to 100-plex immunohistochemistry; artificial intelligence for image analysis, informatics; cancer immunotherapy; DUET H&E-slide scanning for collagen and other macromolecule detection, and real-time, slide-free ex-vivo tissue microscopy.
