Marie Norris pursued a life of active service for her Klamath community and was one of the last people able to speak the Klamath language. Roger Weaver was an OSU faculty member in English literature and poetry from 1962-1996.This is a digitized copy of an audiocassette original held in the Marie Norris Collection (MSS Norris), Special Collections & Archives Research Center, Oregon State University Libraries.

This interview is with James (Jim) Smith, an emeritus member of the clinical faculty of the School of Law. He was appointed in 1976 and retired in 2007.

Jim was a pioneering member of the Law School’s clinical faculty. He had, and still has, a strong commitment to social justice and the representation of under-served members of society. He was a great favorite of the students. His areas of special interest included: Immigration Law and Policy; Criminal Law and Procedure; Latinos and the Law; International Finance, Trade and Development; and Comparative Constitutional Law.

He is interviewed by his friend, former student and colleague, Amagda Perez, also a member of the School of Law’s clinical faculty.
