This interview is with Maureen Stanton, Distinguished Professor Emerita of Evolution and Ecology and Vice Provost of Academic Affairs Emerita. She was appointed in 1982 and retired in 2017.
Hired into the Botany Department, she later moved to the new Department of Evolution and Ecology. Her research focused on natural selection and the maintenance of variation in plant-insect interactions and plant adaptation to changing and heterogeneous environments. She served as director of the Center for Population Biology, then as Chair of Evolution and Ecology. She spent the last 6 years of her career as Vice Provost- Academic Affairs. Dr. Stanton was awarded the UC Davis Prize in Scholarly Research and Undergraduate Teaching in 2005, and was recognized for her campuswide efforts to enhance equity and inclusion in 2016.
