This interview is with Arthur Shapiro, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Evolution and Ecology. He was appointed in 1971 and retired in 2023.
Art’s research is focused on population ecology of butterflies. He has the longest running butterfly monitoring program in North America which has been monitoring at 10 diverse sites in California for over 50 years. He also has a long running study of butterfly species distributions in South America.
