Alison
M. Berry, Emerita Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences, did
fundamental research on mutualistic plant-microbe interactions and applied
research on urban tree stability, root stabilization of soils, and interactions
of flood protection infrastructure and tree
roots. In this discussion she describes
her career at the University of
California at Davis. She describes people and events that shaped her interests
and scholarship; how she came to the Davis campus; and her experiences,
relationships and accomplishments as a member of the University and the local
