Dr. Donovan German
"Unlocking the mysteries of the inner tube of life: a gut-eyed view of
nutritional ecology"
About the Speaker:
Dr. German then won a University of California President’s Postdoctoral
Fellowship to study microbial bio-geochemistry at University of
California, Irvine, where he went on to become an Assistant Professor in
2011; he is now an Associate Professor, Chair of Graduate Admissions,
and the Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience (DECADE)
Mentor for the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Dr.
German studies nutritional physiology, spanning from the molecular to
the whole-organism level. There are currently five PhD students in his
laboratory investigating digestion and energetics in the face of
challenges of diet variation, pollution, and sedimentation.
