Beatriz Cortez | Artist Talk

Beatriz Cortez is a cultural and literary critic, as well as a visual artist. Her work explores simultaneity and the experience of life in different temporalities. A native of El Salvador, Cortez is interested in memory and loss in the aftermath of war and migration, and in relation to imagining possible futures. Recorded on Apr. 14, 2022. 

Cortez was the spring 2022 visiting professor in The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies. The talk was organized by The California Studio in the Department of Art and Art History and co-sponsored by the Manetti Shrem Museum.
