John & Mary Louise Riley Bodega Marine Laboratory Seminar Series:Dr.
Mallarie Yeager: "The stability and functioning of multitrophic
communities"
About the Speaker:
Mallarie is a postdoctoral researcher at UCSC working with Dr. Pete
Raimondi, Dr. Mark Carr and Dr. Will White at Oregon State University.
She is broadly interested in how spatial processes interact with local
factors to shape both population and community dynamics. For her seminar
she will share some work from her PhD, where she examined how factors
like local landscape features and functional diversity influence the
stability and functioning of a multitrophic fish community.
Additionally, she will present on some preliminary findings from her
work at UCSC using a suite of environmental and biotic predictors to
quantify fish biomass estimates along the CA coastline and how this work
will integrate into integral projection demographic population models
to test the resilience and efficacy of California's MPA network.
