Using Equity Science to Address Racism as a Public Health CrisisRecent events including police shootings of unarmed Black men, women, and children at the intersection of disparities in the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in a long overdue national awakening regarding race and racism in society. In this talk Dr. Johnson will share her ongoing journey using equity science to help address racism as a public health crisis through 4 different phases of research:
- Identifying racial disparities in pediatric healthcare and outcomes
- Investigating and describing racism as a root cause of disparities
- Developing and testing interventions aimed at advancing child health equity
- Translation- using research as a tool for advocacy
