Dr Cliff Lowell is an MD/PhD immunologist and virologist from UCSF where he is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. His research has focused on signal transduction in immune cells, specifically on the the Src-family of cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases leukocyte adhesion and activation. His lab is also interested in innate immune cell responses (particularly relevant for how cells respond to viral invasion) where they have studied how integrin signaling in neutrophils is involved in inflammatory responses. He gave a Journal Club to the UCSF ImmunoX group in early April and here he gives us an updated and answers students' questions.
