The event was a conversation featuring Dr. Milmon Harrison,
an Associate Professor in the Department of African American and
African Studies. A dynamic speaker and favorite professor to many UC
Davis students, Dr. Harrison shared with us some of his public
engagement and community outreach initiatives. Dr. Harrison has recently
been named one of four inaugural recipients of the Chancellor’s Fellowships for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
We were also joined by Catherine Brinkley, VMD, PhD, MS,
Associate Professor from the Community & Regional Development
program in the Human Ecology Department. Dr. Brinkley discussed how
her undergraduate level course Community Governance (CRD 158) and
graduate level Health and Place (CRD 200) courses are partnering with
local governments and nonprofits in two important areas. 1) to frame a
Health Impact Assessment of Yolo County's new Universal Basic Income program and 2) to revise and update the Sacramento Region Food System Action Plan.
