"From Stargazing to Spacecraft" explores my career trajectory (no pun intended) from graduating with a BS in Physics from UC Davis to establishing myself in the space industry. This presentation will shed light on how my physics education was foundational for my entry into and growth at multiple newspace startups, how I leveraged those opportunities for my own professional growth, and what I wish I knew when I started!
Bio: Bethany leads a team of engineers at Loft Orbital that are building innovative new technologies for computing aboard satellites. Prior to her tenure at Loft, she's spent most of her career in various startups in the space industry, including Planet Labs and Firefly Aerospace. With experience ranging from operating imaging satellites in low earth orbit, to working on rockets, to systems engineering for lunar landers, she's spent her career building on her foundation from her bachelor's degree in Astrophysics and pursuing her passion for space exploration.
