Talk Description:
Suffice it to say that learning any language remotely is
far from ideal. Students tend
to divert their attention away from the PowerPoint slides or even doze off
during the online ZOOM session. What is worse is they could feel isolated
without real-time in-person interaction with classmates and language
instructors. This can lead to lower performance by the students compared to
face-to-face classes. Over the past year and a half, I experimented on a number
of methods on how to build an enjoyable and engaging online Mandarin Chinese
classroom. In this talk, we will walk through some tips that are applicable to
various levels of language classes.
