The video is somewhat amateurish--it's my first in-class video interview. Content wise it went great, however: the students really appreciated hearing from a non-academic expert in the field and seeing how the course content is applied. If any other teacher wants to try this, here are some lessons that I learned. First, I'm going to get an ethernet adapter so that I have more reliable bandwidth and thus less lag--I'll also do a lag check as well as a mic check at the start. I'll also use a second webcam so that I can have a larger image of the class to pair with the skype screen. In terms of software, I recommend using Skype. We started with Google Hangouts/Meet, but it was a huge bandwidth and memory hog. In that vein, definitely have a back-up line of communication arranged in case anything bad happens. Also, do a tech run the day before. When I did, I found out the projector was broken, but I was able to get it fixed before the interview. (I also brought a portable projector from IT as a backup.)
