Includes a welcome message for SITT 2022 participants from Dr. Andy Jones. Presentation begins at 10:55.
What happens when an instructor moves part of their lecture material to online videos in order to create more time for student questions in class? Do students ask more questions, or does the instructor simply lecture more? This talk will explore the answers to this question and others using observations from a third-quarter general chemistry course taught at UC Davis in "active lecture" and "hybrid lecture" formats. Lessons learned and instructor take-aways from the hybrid lecture format will also be discussed.
