In this talk, presenters will share some highlights and key takeaways from an ongoing study on student experiences and perceptions of hybrid (or "blended") writing courses at UC Davis. Student interviews and focus groups reveal shifting views on the purposes (and perceived value) of face-to-face and online learning formats, especially in a “post-pandemic” context. One key finding is that, at least for writing courses, the hybrid mode of instruction seems to offer students a balance between opportunities for in-person interaction with more flexibility in how—and when—coursework gets done.
