ABSTRACT: Linguistic profiling is defined by John Baugh as the auditory equivalent of visual racial profiling. It can have devastating consequences for those who are perceived to speak with an undesirable accent or dialect. It is time we talked about linguistic bias and the impact it has on higher education. Also, to consider its significance within a MSI and our efforts towards diversifying the pipeline to academia.
