Abstract: IndieBio (http://indiebio.co) is the world’s leading biotechnology
accelerator, located in downtown San Francisco. Companies from all over the
world apply to be part of a 4 month acceleration program which includes
$250,000 funding, dedicated mentorship, and 24/7 access to a co-working space
and bio-safety level 1 & 2 labs. During the program, teams are focused on
turning science into product, closing customers, raising investment, and
developing leadership skills.
With a focus on biology as a technology, IndieBio has
funded over 116 companies solving problems in all areas of biotech, including
future of food/agriculture, biopharma and healthcare, computational biology,
regenerative medicine, neurotech, biomaterials, and more. Some notable alumni:
Clara Foods, Memphis Meats, Synthex Therapeutics, Jungla, Catalog, Prellis,
Qidni Labs, and Endless West.
Bio: Dr. Jun Axup is Scientific Director and Partner of
IndieBio. She advises companies, runs program operations, makes investment
decisions, and builds community. Dr. Axup holds a PhD in chemical biology from
The Scripps Research Institute and has worked at several startups in the fields
of immuno-oncology, protein engineering, lab automation robotics, CRISPR, and
precision medicine. She is passionate about increasing human health
span/longevity, hacking brains, and solving climate change.
